Master of architecture, KU Leuven Faculty of Architecture, campus Sint-Lucas Brussels
The current climate issue needs a sustainable building world in which materials and building processes are handled in an ecological and respectful approach. A committed architectural education can provide the necessary knowledge so that environmentally responsible building becomes a matter of course.
This publication outlines how designing with 'circular materials and building processes' within an architecture education can be brought in an inspiring and immersive way. Hands-on research, experimental design studios and 'learning by doing' contribute to the motivations and a compelling learning process.
Students testify that thanks to the studio 'on circular materials and processes,' awareness grew that sustainable and climate-friendly construction can be a feasible commitment and that 'green architecture' is not as far away as often thought.
